Professional accreditation

The IASE has worked with the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway, The Northern Ireland Union of Supported Employment (NIUSE) and the Open Training College to develop training and accreditation for supported employment professionals.

There are currently two courses available through the Open Training College

Certificate in Supported Employment

This Level 7 course is a professional qualification for people working as job coaches or employment facilitators in the supported employment sector.

The 12-week course will award participants with a QQI/HETAC Level 7 Special Purpose Award.

It will provide:

  • A detailed understanding of the social and legislative context in which the employment of marginalised groups takes place.
  • A formal ground in the principles, processes and best practices of supported employment

The Essential Supported Employment Toolkit

This professionally accredited course provides an introduction to the principles and practices of supported employment.

During the eight-week course, participants will learn the core skills required to put the supported employment process into practice.

The course is suitable for staff and volunteers supporting people with disabilities, and others with disadvantage, into employment. Visit the course description on the Open Training College website.
