Open Door

Diversity at work

Open Door is a project by the IASE to support employers in the Border, Midlands, West region to learn more about recruiting employees with disabilities and inclusive workplace practices.

The project, running from April 2013 to April 2015, aimed to engage with 1,500 employers and support 60 people with disabilities into jobs in the open labour market across 13 counties in the region (Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Longford, Donegal, Monaghan, Cavan, Louth, Westmeath, Offaly and Laois).

The project’s main focus is on promoting supported employment to employers across the region.

Open Door informs employers about how supported employment works, and why the model could be good for their business.

Open Door does this through one-to-one engagement using professional employment development officers, employer focussed events and awareness initiatives.

Open Door offers many benefits for employers and Open 50, an Open Door project, is a great way for employers to take the first steps towards getting involved in supported employment.
