A new National Disability Strategy Implementation Plan was published in 2013 to continue to drive the agenda forward over the period 2013-2015. The Minister for New Communities, Culture, Equality and Drug Strategy, Mr. Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, T.D., chairs the National Disability Strategy Implementation Group which developed and maintains responsibility for the Plan.
The Implementation Plan was developed with the identification by Departments of actions, timelines and key performance indicators. The Plan aims to promote an inclusive Irish society where people with disabilities can reach their full potential and participate in everyday life of the community.
Four High Level Goals were agreed by the Implementation Group under the following themes:
- Equal citizens
- Independence and choice
- Participation
- Maximising potential
